PR Senior Account Executive

Job description

We’re looking for an ambitious Senior Account Executive to join our growing consumer PR team. The right candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive and excited to develop their career at Houston.

This is a role within the consumer team and we have a broad portfolio of clients spanning interiors, design, consumer, drinks and retail. We require someone with experience in press office, influencer management, social integration, and creative activations. This person will be able to demonstrate strong media communications skills as well as expert client management.

For this role we require someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail. Ability to manage workload and delegate effectively is a key part of the role, as is adapting to both small and large businesses.

The role will focus on clients predominantly within the design and interiors space, with potential to work on broader sectors over time. As such, we’re looking for someone with experience in interiors (consumer) and design (consumer and trade).

Whilst the role is SAE, we are happy to consider applicants who are ready for a management role, or a fast track to JAM.

Skills & experience required

Account Management

  • Support the client in their role, demonstrating a good understanding of the client’s business, industry and competitive market.
  • Contribute to the development of the communications strategy (with support from AD) and demonstrate a strong understanding of the objectives and requirements.
  • Activating comms plans, managing up to the Account Director or Senior Account Manager and overseeing junior staff.
  • Proactively run and manage client activity calendars to ensure it is executed in a timely manner, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Supporting senior management with client calls and meetings, ensuring that preparation is well organised and that Account Director or senior company member are fully briefed on meeting agenda.
  • Prepare all meeting materials, e.g., agenda, media reports, contact report etc.
  • Build good relationships with your clients at the appropriate level and support in the overall management of client relationships.

Media Skills

  • Strong understanding of the media landscape, the role of earned media vs paid.
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with media and influencers.
  • Pro-actively seek and identify media opportunities relevant to your clients.
  • Oversee programmes of media promotional activity, such as competitions and reader offers, etc.
  • Plan and manage the organisation of events including photoshoots, press briefings, consumer-facing events and press trips.
  • Understand and advise on media handling including interview briefings, developing Q&A’s, exclusives, embargoes.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with experience in writing press releases, ideas, expert copy, feature copy and insights.

New Business & Marketing

  • Participate proactively in pitches, supporting on research, pitch strategy and development as well as being involved in pitching to potential clients.
    Internal People Management
  • Work in a collaborative way with team members
  • If you do have staff reporting into you, take ownership for their career development and reviews as in line with company policy.
  • Take an active role in coaching any junior staff and providing motivation and leadership.
