Houston was appointed by Biffa in 2019 to develop and communicate the company’s positioning as a key enabler of the UK circular economy, with operations that span the entire breadth of the waste management process including, surplus redistribution, recycling, treatment, energy generation, collection and disposal. Houston has worked with Biffa to profile its ambitious growth strategy, aligned with its purpose to change the way people think about waste.
Houston worked with the team to deliver a step change in brand profile across multi stakeholder audiences and drive an integrated communications function to underpin strategic objectives. This has included an active thought leadership programme, working with the Biffa team to develop leadership positions on a number of topical campaigns, many of them focussed on calling Government to take action on Biffa’s priority recommendations.
Strong media coverage across national media on topical issues and proactive news. Most recently the effective positioning of Biffa and its circular economy credentials helped support the approval of a recommended offer from US private equity investor ECP at a significant premium to the historic share price.
